About Us
Welcome to Living Japan, Loving Japan.
We’re Yuki and Chitose – a Japanese couple living just outside Osaka with our young daughter.
Through this blog, we share real-life tips, thoughtful insights, and everyday advice to help you navigate Japan more smoothly—whether you’re visiting for a short time or settling in for a while.
Our goal is simple:
To turn confusion into confidence, and help you enjoy Japan just a little more.
Meet Yuki
Hi, I’m Yuki.
I was born and raised in Japan by Japanese parents—a typical local.
Now I live in the Kansai region with my wife and our daughter, who goes to an international preschool. I’m also currently learning English.
What motivates me is seeing people struggle with everyday things in Japan—train tickets, restaurant menus, cultural etiquette—and wanting to make those moments easier.
This blog is my way of offering gentle, practical guidance to anyone who might feel a little lost here.
I believe that kindness and clarity go a long way—and if my perspective as a local can help someone enjoy Japan more, that’s the greatest reward.
Meet Chitose
Hello, I’m Chitose.
I also grew up in Japan and have always been drawn to the little things that make daily life meaningful—seasonal foods, neighborhood traditions, family routines, and moments of connection.
I love cooking all kinds of dishes. I enjoy experimenting with new recipes, sharing meals with my family, and finding joy in the simple, everyday act of preparing food.
I’m also passionate about makeup and skincare—not just as a beauty routine, but as a form of self-expression and self-care. I like discovering new products that fit into daily life, and I’m especially curious about what’s trending around the world as well as what’s uniquely Japanese.
One of my favorite places is Universal Studios Japan (USJ)—I’ve visited over 100 times!
Whether I’m checking out new attractions, finding hidden food gems, or exploring the park with our daughter, USJ has become a place of joy and learning for me as both a fan and a mom.
Through this blog, I want to share practical, family-friendly, and heartfelt advice from a local perspective—especially for people who might feel unsure or overwhelmed.
And from time to time, I also love sharing little discoveries—like simple recipes or travel-friendly beauty tips that make everyday life a bit more enjoyable.
Why We Started This Blog
We’ve both witnessed it:
Visitors pausing with confused looks, trying to figure out a train ticket machine.
Tourists unsure what to say in a restaurant.
New residents struggling with unfamiliar systems or etiquette.
Each time, we’ve felt the same thing:
“We wish we could help.”
This blog is our way of doing just that—by offering kind, honest, and down-to-earth information that turns daily challenges into small victories.
What You’ll Find Here
This isn’t just a tourist blog.
It’s for travelers, expats, parents, students—and anyone curious about real life in Japan.
Everything we share is based on what we experience firsthand in our daily lives—not just what’s trendy, but what’s genuinely useful.
Still Learning – And That’s Okay
We’re both still learning English—and we’re both learning how to connect across cultures.
That’s why we write this blog with empathy and honesty, not as experts, but as locals who care.
We believe communication isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about trying. Listening. Understanding.
If you’re feeling a little unsure or overwhelmed—we’ve been there, too.
In the End
Living Japan, Loving Japan is more than just a blog name.
It’s how we live—and what we hope to share.
We’re not trying to impress anyone.
We just want to offer clear, kind, and comforting support to people experiencing Japan.
If something you read here brings you even a little clarity, comfort, or curiosity—then we’re truly happy.
Thanks for visiting. We hope you’ll come back soon!
